I have HAL?A , so it can only really be halva, halma or halfa but I don't see why any.

Actually I've just realised that this is probably a spoonerism of "it's useful coarse fibre (force Khyber)" - anyone know if halfa is such a fibre (part would be half and accepted would be a)

Yes - halfa is Indian plant so it must be coarse fibre; bizarre - I appear to have just answered my own question!
It's not that bizarre - I have found a couple of times that merely writing the question out causes a spark of recognition in the old grey matter; it's quite gratifying, really.
