dear normansec11- if you get the chance keep an eye on TV repeats "Who do you think you are" when Jeremy Clarkson (I 'm sure it was him) went back in time to the factory, belonging to a relative, manufactured these Kilner Jars. I remember my mum using them for bottling jams/chutneys - they were exported all over the world. A great British invention !

Yes it was Jeremy Clarkson. John Kilner was his Great-great-great-great Grandfather!
