Cheers midazolam ! Another of my favourite setters - we have certainly had some good puzzles this weekend.
Thanks, I always appreciate getting it early, as even posting it on Monday is often too late for me in the Algarve.
Thank you midazolam
Thank you for the link, midazolam

most welcome - much easier preamble to understand than this weeks listener

it is uncanny how the same answer (almost) occurs in both these crosswords in the same week!

there is no clue to 27 down and as i am not an expert on the theme i am not sure if it is a thematic answer - but there can only be one answer that fits
An ap-peal-ing puzzle.
Clue for 27 down ( In Seven magazine ) is
"Skier's injured part of face" ( 6 )

thanks novalis

put in the answer for 27 down which goes with that clue
Question Author
can anyone send me the solution for 803 by kea?

[email protected]
Sorry - Twas recycling day for the magazine with that solution last Friday. If I remember correctly it was a case of transposing dots and dashes in the Morse Code for certain letters.
The clue to 34a in my on-line copy seems incomplete.
It reads:- "The place for old lag in"

Can anyone let me have the full clue please, so that I can confirm my (guessed) answer and the subsequent thematic treatment.

Ta,

R
The place for old lag in trouble. That should confirm thematic entry for you.
Boy, that was quick. It confirms my answer too.

Many thanks, Novalis.

134265?
To Crofter,

If you have the answer to 2 down ( which, given the "a" in the preamble, must start with a consonant and not a vowel and is hyphenated 6-6 )) how you indicate the alterations to the 12 affected clues ( all across ) should become clear.
The alterations in 1, 36 and 37 will give the correct letters needed in 2 down: In all 12 which need to be altered it is a simple switch of letters, each time leaving proper words.

I'll be on-line for the next 30 minutes or so. If you need any further pointers please post.
Apologies Crofter,

Just checked Chambers. The actual entry for 2 down is not given, merely the activity which a 2 down would engage in. When I was doing this yesterday morning I assumed the actual entry needed was in the dictionary.
I have 2down and all that is bothering me is how to "suitably mark any changes"? Simply highlighting the switched letters seems too easy!
Ring the changes
Thanks Rapparee
