Yes, a nice penny-drop it was too. One of the one-word unclued lights provided it for me but I might have spotted it sooner if I paid more attention every week...!

Well, I'm 90% through and there's been no penny drop for me. Can I just check whether three of my answers are correct, or am I on the wrong track ?

36a The turf - suggesting a horsey theme

34ac can only be Solved - can't it ?

14a is ibo and your other two answers are correct. As a matter of fact 34a is the one that provided the penny-drop for me but it needs to be paired with one of the other unclued lights, a 2-word entry.

It has to be said that the puzzle's title is a Spectator inhouse reference.
