Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

I enjoyed it too and quite liked the age-old (and probably still pertinent) cynicism of the Latin phrase.

The wordplay in 20d seemed to me to be slightly skewed. This had me checking my crossing answers, particularly 25a, but I'm happy they're right and 20d is worded wrongly.

However, this is just a minor quibble in an otherwise fine puzzle from one of the masters.

Sorry Rapparee, I am just a simple Scientist, so your reflection on the quote is lost on me. However I agree the 4th word in 20d clue is wrongly placed.

Hi DocHH,

Well, Chambers translates it as 'the last argument of kings' i.e. war. So I was reading it as a cynical sentiment meaning 'once all rational argument has been exhausted, resort to war'.

Of course there remains the strong possibility that it is just me who is being cynical!
