I've finished this crossword, but am in doubt re the answer required to 23d. "Agreement announced for rise(6)". The letters I have are ?S?E?T. Is it ASSENT or ASCENT, i.e. is the definition agreement or rise? How can I tell which the compiler means?

the answer is ascent (the answer sounds like assent ie agreement announced.... sorry hard to explain in writing!)
Agree with auntflo - Assent announced, ie spoken, giving 'Ascent'.
