Thanks. I issued my question in haste after seeing an earlier posting for the same puzzle. I had forgotten that it is not a plain cryptic ,but one where in the across clues the definition part leads to the entry and the cryptic remainder to an anagram or reversal of the answer. In the downs, the cryptic leads to the entry, and the definition to an anagram or reversal of that answer. Sorry to mislead you! I

No probs amtaff - I suspected this was not going to be straightforward! 13d 'Drags up' looks suspiciously like 'Hauls > SluAH' but can't make sense of it. Will keep tabs on this thread, Good Luck - ja
