Have two suspected answers but do not see the logic. Explanations please! 27ac. That bloke'sTerry, bursting bubbles in West Ham?(8) H?L?E?E? Hellenes fits,["HE'S" around "ELLEN"(Terry)], but why? 22d.Rotten American raised in the East End(6). S?P?I? Septic fits for rotten but how does the cryptic element work? Thanks in advance to any helpers.

Yes, I knew the song's connection to West Ham but don't see the relevance of Hellenes to them. Thanks anyway.
Could it be more rhyming slang -

"Bubble & squeak(s)" = Greek(s) = Hellenes (?)
