Just finished but the answer to 7a has got me puzzled, I have " reversing lights" as my answer but have no idea why ( a rather frequent problem I seem to have with the Telegraph), can one of you clever people out there explain it for me. Many thanks in advance.

Not having the crossword is a problem but possibly it relates to the clues at 20 & 11 . Is there any connection with a Ring in either as it could be R EVERS ING(* sever/split)
and LIGHT - a clue.

Thank you Kayakamina (funny that, my wife is called Mina, an old Scottish family name.), I'm sorry about the delay in responding, I had to go off line to collect and look after my grandkids who incidentally have destroyed my Telegraph so I don't know if the suggestions you made are correct, however they sound very logical to me.
