There were three clues I couldn't understand the answer to, would someone please explain:
27a Cricketer, say, succeeded intercepting return of ball. Ans Leg slip. Leg slip =cricketer but can't see how clue works.
28a Old man departs by car, going from house. Ans.Hominid. Hominid =old man. Home ? in ? -can't get it.
5dFeminist's inclination to hide sex appeal.Ans Besant. Besant was a feminist (found via google-how many would know that?) . Inclination is a slant but how do we lose the l and gain the be? What is sex appeal in crossword speak?
Thanks
