You pair of old dinosaurs - have you not heard of the term pop diva? Most dictionaries now have a definition of diva as a 'great' or 'famous' female singer, I believe - and Mariah is certainly that.

I agree the term has become devalued. There's a parallel with anthem being used to describe a pop song. I do remember Mariah Carey though!
