Does anyone know if the people who check prize crosswords accept alterations of any kind?
E.g. 'tippex', going over letters to amend them. etc.
I have always wondered how much they allow to be changed.

Neat Tippex is accepted by most crossword checkers, provided the answer is clear and correct.
There is a new Tippex available called "Tippex Rapid", it's a small bottle shape, with a very fine wedge shaped applicator, it is very quick drying and can be written on without dragging. Carefully done, it's quite hard to see the alteration. Good luck.
What we often do is place a piece of greaseproof paper over the original grid held down with a small piece of tape accross the top. then if you make any mistakes it doesn't ruin the original which you fill in when you have finished.
good luck
Do it in peccil first - errors can be erased before inking in!!
Hi - I actually posted a piece on this subject several days ago as I had always wondered if Tippex-ed answers were accepted. I probably had three or four in a X-word which earned me the 500 prize.
I use a special pen,Papermate.Replay max you can erase it,the next day it is permanent.
