What did you think of today's puzzle? I thought there were a few very iffy clues, especially:

I agree. I have been disappointed with the DT cryptic for some time. I thought it was my advancing years causing a problem!!
It is very reassuring to find that other regulars are also experiencing problems, Thank you for your help again today,
Since the Crossword Editor was removed things have got worse. Maybe it's just a coincidence.
Val Gilbert, the editor who retired in 2006, is a neighbour. I have asked her before what she thinks, but these days she confines herself to The Times - I think their editor is one of her protgs!!
I had understood from this

that Val Gilbert's successor, Kate Fassett, has recently been removed.
Correct - Kate Fossett was made redundant, along with a lot of other employees. I have to confess that not only is the DT cryptic crossword getting questionable at times, the quality of the DT reporting, spelling etc is also getting worse. A symptom of the new editor and the Barclay Brothers.
I guess there is a fine line between "made redundant" and "sacked" !!

BigDave - yes I have seen that before, and remember doing the crossword too.
