dictionary help please

i have created a crossword with "aidoi" as one answer - this is the plural form of aidos.

Chambers 2003 CD and Chambers reference online list aidoi, which links to aidos, but it is not directly specified as the pluralised form.

The help i need is to find a dictionary that specifies aidoi as the plural of aidos

(the dictionaries that also do not have it will also help)

I can't find Aidoi as the plural either.

Not knowing where the checked letters are on the grid you are using it's not possible to suggest another word(s) to fit.

searching in Google Books for 'aidoi' yielded some hits, many of which defined 'aidos' as 'shame' and 'aidoi' as 'from shame'. "...the goddesses stayed home aidoi (from shame)".

I also could find nothing that defined aidoi as the plural of aidos.

It's in here as the plural, but I can't find it in any dictionary.

thanks for looking - i might be losing a fighting battle

why does Chambers list pluralised forms in the search facility, but not state them under the main entry? e.g. menta as the plural form of mentum

editors wont accept these plurals as they are not actually specified

I fear you may be right. I ran a search on onelook.com, which sometimes comes up with a result when other sources don't: unfortunately the only hit for 'aidoi' is the Greek for external genitalia, when used in compound nouns. I think legs rather than fingers crossed may now be appropriate...
