I take The Times crossword to bed with me every night, (sad, isn't it!) and always manage to complete it. Sometimes I'm very late getting to sleep. Sometimes (like last night) there are questions I don't understand, but the answer has to be right. So: 24d 'Highly strung French marshal digesting good book.' Answer must be 'nervy', but I can't see why. Can somebody please explain?

Ne (RV) y. French Marshall = Ney. Good Book = RV: Revised Version (of the Bible).
