Hi everyone
Nothing to report on EV progress wise. Tutored my daughter's boyfriend for a couple of hours after a hard day at the chalk(?) face (last minute panic - exam tomorrow) then been marking for the last 3 hours.
PG - I hope minipg is soon better - it's amazing how quickly they bounce back.
Perhaps you could bring some strawberries to DC, devadolly. I prefer mine without the cream. No sign of ours in the garden - that's if we could see through the driving rain.
Christina, a = absent, out of meal eg breakfast.
Thanks Copelander - easy when you know how! Have now completed the grid, but too tired to go hunting for buried treasure or thematic words, names etc. Hopefully it will all become clear in the light of morning.
So far today, there has been negligible nattering and nary a smattering of chattering.

I just felt that would be fun to say.

Carry on.

Oh DocHH, axis's, axes, hatchets, graphs.....you know my maths phobia....shall work backwards far easier than trying to work out what a thingy of a graph is!
Haven't had a further look again as have been having a skive off - had a trip down to the Mammoth Onion nursery (a REAL nursery not a garden centre) to get the cucumbers and another couple of tomatoes - got a Black Prince and a Redcurrant tomato plants from their old Heritage series and another previously unknown (to me) variety, Cherry 100's that makes 12 different plants 6 x new and 6 x old faithfuls. Naturally, it involved a meeting with a friend and lunch! Will have another look at bedtime.
Physicsgirl, hope minipg is well on the mend.
Hi dr b - I take it your "Carry on" is a cryptic hint, because I'm still no nearer getting the theme, the letters to be used and the name to be highlighted.

Physicsgirl - Hope that Junior PG is on tthe mend.

Back to EV now.
carry on is not a cryptic hint but an earlier post is full of them.
What, Devadolly, no strawberries? PG, hope miniPG is feeling better, and that you both got some sleep last night.

Strawberries and cream in the DC tomorrow, not my own unfortunately, weeks before they are ready thanks to the chill factor, besides, Himself guards those avidly - he counts them and woe betide............. Tesco have some lovely enslata (I think that is their name) from Kent currently in stock and they really are very tasty, double or single cream? Someone please bring a non-mathematical clue for the last across clue PLEASE it is driving me bonkers!
How about "SLY BUXOM LAMA CRAZY FOR DRIED TWIGS"?

Your's was the second post to mention strawberries & cream......
The first 4 letters from the start of a percussion instrument, then 5 letters from what kon-tiki was constructed from, then 3 to describe a parent.

As the talk of strawberrires and cream ... the theme will be upon you soon.

Drb.........?????????????????????????????? have the wood quite happily, will try harder!
Well do you all want S & C or not?
Devadolly, there's a time and a place for them, but it's not in DC.
Hello again,
miniPG had another awful night but then slept for 3 hours at 4.30am - woke up full of beans, operating at 95% of her usual self, appetite returning. Thank you for your concern, EV & NC members. Currently dispplaying all signs of an allergic reaction to the penicillin so think I'll knock it on the head since her immune system seems to be coping on its own. Solved several more clues despite being sleep-deprived. Perhaps it's like the trance-like state that native americans go into for enlightenment .....
PG, good to hear miniPG is almost back to her usual self. Allergic type rashes are more common when the cause is viral, so I'd tend to agree with your decision to stop abs.
Like Devadolly had a day out today - and had strawberries and cream for tea, but more always acceptable. Stared at EV fruitlessly over breakfast then abandoned it. (whereas tea, unlike EV, was very fruitful!) Will now try again and look back at the 'earlier post' alleged to be full of cryptic hints.
Hi dr b!

Thanks for the pointer to your previous post -- Now have the theme but still for the life of me can't find the name ( or, indeed, work out which letter from the completed curve is the initial! ) let alone work out the word from the clashing letters. I'm just going to have another look at it to see if some inspiration strikes.
Thanks Dr. B, your hints have served me well - or perhaps it was the strawberries - The thematic word came to me after I had retired last night. Now just got to identify the symmetrical name.
Hopefully you'll both get a handle on the name soon.
Having spent a long time fruitlessly scanning the grid I did what I should have done in the first place.

I "Googled" the puzzle's title.
