Got the answers just fine yesterday (and have confirmed them), but can't understand the subsidiaries:

5d. Change taps to save shellfish: SHRIMP.

14d. Stylish and charming society girl ejected when broadcasting: ON AIR.

20a. (rank outsider) The Undertaker: TRIER.

To save is scrimp. If you change C to H (cold to Hot) you get shrimp

Thank you all. These are mostly quite obvious when you are told. I had got TIER = rank myself, but the split of "outsider" into "outside R" is especially devious!
