Chambers shows napoo (World War 1 sl) good for nothing; dead.

I don't entirely see how this fits the clue though?
napoo is a WW1 slang word meaning dead (Chanbers). I don't understand the cryptic bit of the clue, though, substituting O for A.

Thankyou both, I found napoo in the Bradfords under "dead" but really cannot understand the setter's wordplay.
On another site, Charybdis has apologised for the error in this clue. It should start "No OAP..."

Will they take into account all those who sent it in with with the answer NAPAO because people did not know of the printing error?
