9 down: Giddy nun, i.e. hugging bishop, goes before head displaying papal quality? (12) UNERRINGNESS must be the answer, and I can account for RR inside UNE-IN (anag) and NESS, but that means G=GOES, which is a new one on me. Any suggestions, or is it a setter's oversight?

RR = Right Reverend, title for Bishop

Ness = head of land, also cape

Sorry pldcav - I misread can for can't! As you say, that would mean G for Goes which I've not seen before either but then I've never tackled Azed so don't know his style.
