I enjoyed today's puzzle although I can't fully justify 16a.

Morning, k. I think 16a is an anagram of He's nautical minus as etc. So as, playing with the answer and etc, to give he's nautical

Thanks for the link Cruciverbalist - kind of them to extend the deadline, I haven't seen any others give consideration to the postal delays. I suppose the Competition puzzles do count as a 'special case'.

On a more critical note, I thought it rather lax that 11 and 20 share common elements to both definition and wordplay ?

Yes, both those clues use the same wordplay for the three-letter bird - otherwise a good puzzle.
