Hello EV N&C Wine Clubbers,
A little more challenging this week. Populated the grid slowly, but steadily, then pored for ages trying to fathom the relevance of the extra letters, still not sure, but have deduced the Title and shaded the 19 squares, and in my grid the shape could have 2 options!

Thank you all for your kind welcome.
HI all
Back from choir - which was an absolute hoot tonight. Learnt a song which involved us waving torches around in a choreographed manner - total cheese. Finished EV :-) Many thanks for all your best wishes for Thursday - I shall be very relieved (in more ways than one!) when it is over.
Many thanks for your warm welcome.
Just discovered the joys of having a page 2; had assumed that I had not hit the submit button last night! Almost as steep a learning curve as the crosswords... Best wishes also for Thursday, Ringer.
Hello Everyone! I'm back! Not looked at IT yet except to check the number and see if anyone is about.......it would seem not, no doubt you have all found it so easy you have finished it and gone to the pub!
Checked last week's post and you all know DC is NEVER locked,, in fact the door automatically opens when approached by a needy N & Cer. Welcome to all the newcomers, the madwoman is back.
Amazon unbelievable, hard to comprehend a river 1000 miles from the sea being 6 miles wide in the dry season and 45ft deeper in the wet season with a width of 23 miles. Houses with floors that rise with the river and portable cow rafts. Manaus a city of over two million in the middle of the jungle with nowhere to go but on the river.
Back to the pages of emails..................
PS Got back to learn I had won a consolation prize for the Sat Cryptic prize Xword - only been doing it since I began at the Establishment 40 odd years ago! Obviously pays to persevere.
