Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

To own is to have so I guess "have a butcher's". Another hopeless clue.

And it should have been peers without the apostrophe. Lynn Truss would love this!

peer's is short for 'peer is' in this clue not the plural noun

Sorry but I disagree. The clue is peers, looks, scans. If it were written "Peer's to own ...." I would agree with you. I expect decent english from the times.

If it were peers then the answer would be "has a butcher's"

I peer = I have a ...
he peers = he has a ...

You do realise that in this clue the apostrophe is nothing to do with the possessive, it is the shortened form of the word 'is' e.g. it's = it is, as simple as that. So nothing to do with ownershop of anything.

This is a cryptic clue; a cyyptic clue usually consists of 2 parts: a definition and a subsidiary . 'peer' is the definition; 'is' implies (in the way that cryptic clues work) that the rest of the clue is the subsidiary. Are you new to cryptic crosswords? because with your pedantry I can't believe you'll stick with them for long. Unless you're (= 'you are', not 'your') clutching at straws because you know that you were wrong.

I usually crack these puzzles in about five minutes and have been so doing for about 25 years so do not try to lecture me on cryptic puzzles. Goodbye.

Jumbuck is clearly right. Besides, it would be grammatically correct even if the apostrophe were possessive.
