Excellent tries, but it's actually a clue with a deliberate misprint in it. It should be letters, not litters, and I'm pretty sure the answer is ETAS, (ate=upset, over, + s=special)

I agree with the people who said it's letters rather than litters - but my son thinks it's PIGS (gip being the upset)! I would be happier if I liked my possible answer to 28D. Have sussed the theme and managed to pair up some of the entries but am also totally mystified re 32D. Any tips?

Thank you turnerjmw. That's what I have too but I felt "in trunk" was a very loose definition, despite needing the "n"! The only answer I actually have nothing for is 32D. Am I missing something?

The aorta is the large trunk artery, so I think it's okay. Slaney is of course right about 32dn. The court is German, and you should think celebrity as in a concept, rather than a person

Thanks turnerjmw and slaney. Until now I only found the spelling of that court that started with a v so had abandoned that line of thinking completely! Have now discovered this spelling is an alternative one so it makes much more sense now.
