Can I have some help or hints with the unclued lights - I have GR?E?<<INNER<SHALLOW<COROLLA<BRACT< LEAF< DISH<C?I?S
Don't really understand what to do next??
In his rush I'm afraid K "may" possibly have given you an unintentional mislead ?
look at Sepal, and not Pelta and I think that will put you straight on the correct associations.
I have PLATE - shallow dish,
PETAL = corolla leaf (exactly def. in chambers)
PALET = inner bract,
LEPTA = Greek coins (the smallest ancient Greek coin, translated ‘mite’ in the New Testament (pl lepˈta))
thank you dr b
TEPAL was the anagram I was using which is defined as a PETAL or SEPAL the later given to look up) of which is stated as "green leaf" - which would mean that "coils" (as whorls) would run with 'corolla' - again fits.
I much prefer your solution though - even though LEPTA does not seem to be in Chambers it is in the OED, and is a more direct fit.
