venerable type = st (saint)

jolly = very (e.g. "that's jolly good")

vestry = Church of England. a meeting attended by all the parishioners or by a committee of parishioners during which the official business of the church is discussed

One meaning of vestry is a meeting of parishioners. Jolly = very as in 'jolly cold' and st = saint = venerable type.
