I did see the Ti(g)er but I couldn't see where the ERR came from as I thought to ERR meant to make a mistake but I suppose it could mean to go off track, or stray.

You have misquoted the clue. the word is 'stray', not 'wild'. Err is a synonym for Stray. Keep persevering - it's well worth it in the end.
