Seem to be strange clues to me. Can't understand Beppo. I thought of Lookout, but can't quite see it. Curer is a bit tenuous. Thanks a lot, anyway.

14a a lookout is a guard, and cave is the Latin for "Beware!" (as in caveat emptor) i.e. "Look out!"

31a a drug that is effective would cure and so could be said to be a curer, and to smoke is to cure meat
