Purely as an aside Zita-Green it's a pity that your hope for a theme, expressed in the thread for No 1966, linked to the Summer of 1968 didn't materialise. Had it done so I would have claimed to have been told all about it by my parents. Nonetheless, this was most enjoyable.
Zita, go into 'My Profile' (at the top left of this screen) then in the box that appears 'Edit profile' and it gives you the option of logging in to change from the default avatar. You can just select a picture from your 'my pictures' file and follow the instructions to use it. I am not much use with these things, but I managed to load one (and it's a toad, not a robin!)
Zita, you are doing yourself down, yet again! You may think you are a technophobe, but how on earth did you connect to the Internet and then take that giant leap to solve cryptic crosswords!
What Ruthrobin has said is correct, so try that, but for extra help just try the search function on this site and type in Avatar.
I'll be keeping an eye out for your success with the Avatar thingy! I'm sure you'll feel better about yourself if you're not a pink blobby thing!
I usually post 2nd class about a week before closing date. Managed to win the Speccie a few years back when the 1st prize was a bottle of port and a cheque. The port never did arrive and the cheque took about 6 weeks but was gratefully received.
I remember the Games and Puzzles magazine from years back. It was very good.
Vp, the postie probably enjoyed the port, or maybe it didn't even make it out of the Speccie office! G&P leaves the distinct memory of being bested, week after week, by a gentleman from Ontario and Ron Jerome from Bracknell. I don't suppose you live in Berkshire....
Thank you for the links K & M. Late starting this week but didn't find it too hard - luckily the "geography" clues were "google-able"! !7a was a problem as in my grid it looked like it had 6 letters not 5 since the bars were very faint there. Luckily I found it in Chambers. Well done Zita!
