Another reasonably straightforward grid fill with the 'clusters' becoming apparent early on.

Enjoyable but possibly not the challenge we expect for a Bank Holiday puzzle.

Hi teenieleek.

Thanks for your remarks.

Welcome to EV and this site where I'm sure you won't meet the kind of 'children' you referred to on the other forum.

Novalis has explained things to you far better than I could.
Yes, Novalis, I supposed that was the case; just didn't really see the point. Devadolly, I didn't find this at all easy as some posters did. I worked solidly, nursing a cracked rib from a fall. Like Teenieleek, a Ruth Rendell novel set the metaphorical beaters to work on my poor old brain.
Hi Zita-Green!

Hope you are soon fully recovered.
Thanks Novalis.
Welcome to the madhouse Teenieleek, here we tend to only give hints. Some may be obscure, others heavy or even obese! There was one hint in my first post. Novalis has posted some heavy-weight ones since, and also given some really good help. As far as the clusters are concerned, it is possible to work backwards from the thematic unclued entries. To reconcile those answers does make the whole solution more satisfying!
Zita-green, I wish you a speedy recovery, I hope the incident was not related to that favoured red wine!
Devadolly, stop fluttering around and get on with this EV!
Hi DocHH, I wish! Not so much the wine as the wire; bored ironing, careless about unplugging and tripped.
A violinist of my acquaintance often speaks of feathering but I think he's a bit self absorbed. Thanks for your good wishes
Thanks for the hints, should really be sending owls rather than using the ether I suppose................. Done quite a chunk but (as ever) got interrupted by the Police calling and asking who's beasties were wandering down the road, not ours but we knew who's they were so got involved in that and then the muse (what bit there was) had left. Have to admit am finding the clusters gobbledegook but will try and have another go tomorrow.
Hi Devadolly!

Hope the bird hasn't flown when you return to it. The clusters can be solved by working back from the unclued entries.
Devadolly, did you mention owls because you are reading Harry Potter stories? Strangely enough you could consider an owl to be an MP!
No DocHH, I am not currently reading HP, have done so on more than one occassion as I find them most enjoyable. I was carrying on with the hint theme!
Zita-green, good excuse for not doing the ironing, keep the plaster on for an extra week or two!
Thanks to all for kind words of welcome. Will now have another look at the clusters although Sunday seems a long time ago - short attention span problem plus Wee Stinker required attention and tomorrow is Spectator day - so many crosswords, so little time!
A bit late to post this week - we enjoyed some fine Scottish air last week and have been running to stand still since. However, the h-g did find time to flit through the EV and, like a few have mentioned, finished the puzzle and worked backwards on the Clusters which were (imho) the most difficult part. As you say, teenieleek, so many crosswords..... and today's Speccie a Dumpynose :), welcome to the ev thread!
Yes welcome teenieleekie. Must admit I, too, worked the clusters out AFTER completing the grid. Devadolly would love someone to mow the lawns, but can't really afford it until we get the house in Portugal sold. Anyone interested in a very nice, roomy 2 bedroomed house in the Eastern Algarve, with very small garden and spacious terrace? Terrace could be turned into a third bedroom, if desired
