Very frustrated as can't finish this crossword because of one clue. Can anyone help please? 12d - "Extended sound that's sparsely arranged - observe". (6,4) I have ?o?t?d?o?e. Is the last word note, but what is the first word? barrym

Dotted Note?

I thought of that JImJools, but it's almost the opposite of "extended" isn't it? Don't see how that could fit the clue. Or perhaps I am missing something.

Not very up on music but this is what I found -

The dot increases the duration of the basic note by half of its original value. - On here -

You're so right!! I was thinking of a dotted note as being staccato which is a very short note when it has a dot above it.. But of course, it can also be used alongside the note rather than above (as in staccato) to prolong the length of the note. Well done!! Thanks. I'm sure you are right and that is the answer.
