I can't find any thread and assume everyone has been on their travels as I have
with this EV.

I enjoyed it and we'll see what others thought.

Ps I think 7d should be 6 (not 8)

Yes, 7d is 6 letters. Haven't finished yet but enjoying the journey.
Haven't had a lot of time to work on this, but I have latched on to the theme and just have a few more clues to polish off. Nice puzzle.
Quite agree, K. Very nicely done by Nutmeg. A conceit I've seen before in other puzzles, but well enough concealed to make me feel daft for not spotting it earlier. Most entertaining
Yes enjoyed this one, although I still havent got 1d so am feeling a bit of a block head.
...and just got it. Posting always helps when you have spent a while looking fruitlessly
It is all very quiet on this thread at the moment - surely the harvest has finished by now? Maybe it has and everyone has gone on holiday?
It's not quiet here, Andrew G-S. Can't you hear me banging my head on the desk?
Hello AndrewG-S not travelling now I'm afraid, could do with it, hate the winter! Am not getting on very well at all, none of my downs seem to be the right length either. Think I have an idea about the theme but can't see the way forward am not on Mr N's wave-length as yet. If you mean apples by the harvest...........no it hasn't finished yet, but at least they are all off the tree now so when the lawn has been cleared this time the harvest will be over..bucket of lovely cookers anyone?
DD, strange that the accrosses and downs of incorrect length tend to intersect. We have a couple of really nice Bramley trees so I will decline the additional bucket, but thank you for the offer Perhaps you could consider exporting them to France, Spain etc.?
It was only this morning that the penny, (or maybe the euro), dropped for me.
This EV reminded me of one of last year's CAM crosswords which used the same device.
I really am missing something here! Am I now right in thinking they are all the wrong length, both down and across? If not what am I moving/cacelling/throwing over my shoulder in disgust? Uuuuuuuuuggggggghhhhhhhh! just not getting it at all!
Some of the accross and some of the down answers are longer than their entries in the grid. Where these clues cross something needs to be done to make them fit in.
Have to say, not getting it at all, I think this one can be assigned to the bin!
This was probably not the weekend to be on our travels - one night of which was spent on a pavement in central London! However, we are now back in the chilly north and opening up the brb to tackle both this and the Listener.... oh how that pavement is looking increasingly alluring. A jolt to the synapses during the cricket last night produced all but the last couple in the EV and it finally fell into place this morning - but I think we feel this was one of the hardest Enigmas of the year. I can quite sympathise with Dd and the bin moment - it was a close run thing. That other puzzle is being just as awkward, not helped by the huge number of clues and although there are moments of clarity it still has more holes than my knitting.
A really good puzzle but I am stuck on 16 only and have been for days. Does this answer have one or two thematic entries? Can anyone guide me?
16 has one thematic. Do drop me an email for further hints if you wish ([email protected])
Thanks for the offer AndrewG-S, I'll mull it over a bit longer and see how i do.
