I have two 7 letter answers left, Ingenue and Angelus.
The way that I have completed my grid, either answer will fit in either grid, if you see what I mean.
Has anyone else got this, or am I barking up several wrong trees ?

N = The later Tertiary period, in geology (7)
O = A species of sturgeon (7)
P = A woman’s coat worn over a crinoline (7)
S = A tool in two grooved parts for shaping metal (5)
T = A clear, orange-flavoured liqueur (6,3)
It is a problem trying to fill in the grids if you don't have all the options, so hope help is at hand

Thank you very much, bellabee. That part of the puzzle had totally escaped me. Doh! All sorted out now.
