Thanks for the link mintyman.
Congratulations to crofter for his win in the Christmas crossword. I hope the bottle of champagne is a good one!
Thanks for the link as always mintyman.

I add my congratulations to crofter, a good friend of this site. Unless I'm mistaken a couple of other Aber's are prizewinners.

The usual Doc standard puzzle; for a while I was thinking weights and measures!
TVM as usual MM99 and congrats to crofter and the other aber's then.
Thanks mintyman.
Well done to crofter! :o))
Thank you for the link M. Well done to Crofter! Nice straightforward puzzle today!
What a pleasant surprise! I opened up this posting to print off this week's challenge completely unaware of my good fortune. Thanks for your good wishes.

My congratulations go to ulysses for last week's EV.

27d. Can anyone confirm this has something to do with a place in the London Borough of Barnet ? Or, am I completely on the wrong track ? Thanks.
Hi teacher1. Havent really started on this crossword yet but i suggest you think about the London borough of Millhill and take the word play from there to arrive at misfortune as the definition. Hope this helps.
Correction: I should say Millhill a . place in a london borough as indicated in the clue
Thanks, Mintyman and congrats to all abers. I, too, thought of weights and measures at first.
I'm going mad. I can't get 20a or 21d. I've done everything else, including the theme. Any help much appreciated. Lynn
Apse (sounds like apps on iphone)
Scent (trail of clues s from singular in 25 down and cent for 100)
Thanks for that. It had to be APSE but, I'm not into iphones and didn't understand it! Should have got the other though. Lynn
Thanks mintyman - a belated Happy New Year to you.

I particularly liked the Dame's guest appearance at 23 across !
