Not finished yet, but the grid fill is going smoothly, the theme has been cracked and therefore some reverse solving can take place, but, the rugby is beckoning. Certainly one for beginners and newcomers to have a go at (unlike last week).

With reference to PuzzledBadger above, the post on the crossword centre board had a snide remark about cheating on AB. OK so the bloke's a plonker, but what's with this "cheating" allegation? Whom do we cheat? Ourselves? Then that's our business and no-one else's. Out of what do we cheat others? The "prize" is so insignificant as to be irrelevant. I just don't see how a friendly discussion of a puzzle can be cheating and as someone pointed out a few weeks ago there's no compulsion to be here.
True to form 'Rear Gunner's' member Tenflags still trying to make it back to base.
I am glad that some 'A team' members; RuthRobin and Clamzy made the comments they did - it's strangely comforting as I also have (are) finding this difficult in comparison to last weeks (not that they are all difficult to me of course) and how easy this one is supposed to be given some comments made here. It is interesting how folks must see / think / try to solve clues in different ways.
I did watch the rugby but now finally have the grid pretty much filled (bar the unchecked) - trying to make sense of the letters /instruction (a few gaps and must have a few errors in there to sort out). I don't have an IPad either so same problem on 9d but hey ho. An idea about the theme but time to struggle on.
PS: cluelessJoe - you are welcome to consider yourself a member of the 'Rear Gunner's' club but you are of course usually up there with the best of them.

In follow-up to midazolam's question on p1, is it the consensus that one should not further "m______" the unclued entries, but rather fill in any missing blanks? My initial reaction was the same as TheBear69's - that is, that the "instruction" seemed to require further adjustment. Thanks in advance for any feedback!
