Much more fun for me this week, challenging but not daunting. It gets much easier once the theme is grasped, but the final straight line takes a bit of spotting. One of those which manages to be educational as well as pretty, and nicely put together. Appreciation to Aedites.

I agree, not too tough (although I did have to read the preamble about 4 times) but a lot of fun to see it come together. I was briefly sidetracked by being in the wrong location, but not for too long.
All coming together quite nicely. Found it difficult to get started, but once the first few were in, everything seems to speed up.
Still have my line to draw but I know where it is going. This was an enjoyable steady solve with the main problem being the habit we have developed of using the correct letters, not the misprints.
Ah, the line was easier than I thought - another lovely one - just up my street!
Clunk - as the penny drops.
I did exactly what you did Ruthrobin. Finished the grid and thinking the letters almost made words I wondered where I went wrong. Message to self: Read the preamble properly!

Suddenly it was all finished. In a way it made a much better PDM
Me three on the misprints....

Yup, me too - Maybe we should start an educational thread called "Reading Preambles for Dummies"
A fairly easy grid fill, paying little attention to the preamble, and not bothering too much about recording the misprints. Back to record them (both ways, as I've been caught out that way before), and to pause and wonder whether the near-sense made by the wrong reading was deliberate. Great fun: thank you, Aedites.
Local knowledge meant I recognised the theme almost immediately and was able to place all the locations and guess where the straight line would go. Then I remembered it was a crossword with clues to be solved!
Yes, very enjoyable... and I also confess to having not read the preamble properly first time around! Thanks, Aedites.
Enjoying this one a lot. Was also using correct letters! Grid 2/3 filled. Will leave rest until the morning. Night all!
Make that 6 on the misprints. Enjoyable Friday night entertainment, thanks Aedites.
RearGunner club member Tenflags reporting for duty and amazed myself to have nearly completed (hopefully) and who knows if I had started earlier I "might" have been a short term member of the Friday club. Gad to see the best of them made the same mistake about misprints as me.
An enjoyable solve. My only criticism is that the PDM comes too early and makes it easy to remove all the extra words, but good to get an early finish.
Great fun. I finished the grid last night and did the locations after breakfast, although there is one of them that I don't like at all on a personal level (footie-wise!). I'll draw the line this evening, but I know where it should go. I read the preamble fairly carefully and it does pay dividends.
A very enjoyable Saturday morning romp - but is the wordplay for 33 ac entirely sound?
Yes, I think the wordplay for 33a is fine, Speravi.

First time I've had one in the post by Saturday lunch time for a long time - good fun though
Nicely constructed overall, but I found some of the clues a bit irritating where the extra words looked particularly forced. Just about forgiveable though given the constraints on specific clues which had to be adapted, and required grid locations for thematic items.
Yes, another one for the misprints - I had some very odd words for a while. However, I now have the grid, the hint and I know what I have to do for the intersections. I didn't know there was such a thing, isn't the Listener informative. Slightly concerned about having to draw a final line as the last bit is so often where I grind to a humiliating halt.
