Thanks for the replies. Can you explain the answer, please. The only reference I can find to TOVE is Tove Jansson who wrote the Moomins (trolls) but I would have thought her forename would not be the reason for the answer to the clue. More help please!!!!!!!!!!!
In Jabberwocky in Alice through the Looking Glass, the first line of the poem is "'Twas brillig and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe"....
and Humpty Dumpty said that a tove was like a badger. If you google Alice in Wonderland Tove you will find references
