Apart from the twists in the unclued lights and the baffling (to me) cryptic elements of 5dn and 37ac, quite a friendly puzzle from Doc.
I agree it was a friendly offering.

5d Composer in HK (see Chambers)
37a Indian clerk spelled with an S cut off.

There were also two words not in Chambers .
What I meant was an alternative spelling of an Indian clerk with the tail cut off.

Completed the clued lights quickly but can't see the theme. A tiny hint would be most welcome.
