HAGGIS
7d It's a (Pashto) word used in India for a stone breastwork or a lookout post. In Chambers you are sent to the alternative spelling (second letter a not u).One letter is removed as indicated in the wordplay. Put the accompaniment + the letter into an anagram searcher if you have one.
I started and completed this today by happenstance. I completed my grid in pencil as usual. I was satisfied, so I went over it in ink. Then I looked at this thread. Oh dear, I now have a dilemma about how I entered the interim product. Originally executed the thematic movement only on 1/7th of it in order to make the final product. You are right that the preamble clearly states that the whole of the interim product is to be subjected to the thematic movement. HOWEVER, would it not be true to say that you would never execute the thematic movement until the interim product was almost completely transformed into the final one, or things could get very messy indeed. OK, I'll find the Tippex. (Sorry Dr. B Correction fluid?)
