Brought back memories of the "ingin johnnies" who used to come round the doors- they were beret-wearing Frenchmen and had strings of ingins slung over the handlebars. That was pre 1939
There's an old line about somebody from Dundee (?) asking for two different types of bridie in a baker shop: I'll have a plain ane and an ingin ane an' a'. Might even be from a song. :)
