Was it King Edwar VII ?
oops, meant King Edward VII
I thought George 1st.
It was written by Isaac Watts who lived fom 1674-1748 if that helps
George 1 was king when it was written...not sure if he was ill at the time.
The hymn was written in 1719 so it's not Edward. George I was king at that date, but I'm not sure he had been ill

thanks to all for help. off on holiday tomorrow, so will have to put this one to bed.
Queen Anne
I'm not sure the hymn was written to mark anyone's illness.
It was written during the time of Queen Anne, not George I, so the likely answer seems to be Queen Anne if anyone.
In fact minimal research on Google (you should try it :-) ) confirms the answer as Queen Anne.
