For 23d I have Tercel is this correct? because 26 across begins with an A
22d A chief character in a literary work A - O - I - T
2d Archaic term for a wild reckless person

Looks like it could be - Rantipole - Are you sure of the 'A'?
I have a problem with 23d too. I thought it was tercel but I have an "s" from 23a and so far I don't have 26a. Rantipole is correct as is agonist.
Aha! I've just realised what you have for 26a and I would tend to agree that there is an a in 23d
Tarsal or Tarsel is an alternative spelling for tercel
