However, the fruit and vegetables grow well and in summer we are spoiled for choice with farmers setting up roadside stands where we can buy veggies or fruits straight from their farms and at half the price charged in the supermarkets. I often think that we are so very fortunate in this respect. So far this year we've had a glut of asparagus, strawberries, raspberries, peppers, beans, peas etc etc. Later will come the melons, corn, plums, apples and pears.
And of course this area has many vineyards. With many different and new grapes being grown. Actually, so many good wines that we are overtaking the famous Niagara Region in wine production. Many of our quality wines have won prizes at the yearly wine tasting competition in France and we have actually beaten the French with our wonderful wines. And of course we mustn't forget the famous Ice Wine. Very expensive - very sweet and delicious. If you have a chance to sample it you will not be disappointed.
