Stuart Broad- great opening batsman?
I thought that was Chris Broad
Hi, sorry to muddy the waters but Stuart Broad is a excellent bowler and scores some useful runs for England but has never been a opening batsman (except as nightwatchman)either for England or Notts , normally bating at 8 or 9
Yes that was the point i was trying to make , EGTB.
Souxie - please can you clarify the letters, do you have all of them and are we looking for a surname or a full name?
was the 'u' and the 't' that led me there sorry to all cricket fans lol
more likely to be Allan Border (although i'm not sure he opened either) or Donald Bradman if there are some lettrers missing

so full marks to mamyalynne
More luck than judgement.
Well done mamyalynne, but if the question in the paper did say "great opening batsman", it's a mistake by the Express
Is it just me, or in the Scottish Sunday Express the clues given DO NOT match the answer grid???
It does also say SURNAME of a GREAT opening batsman!!
