Is it ourie or owrie? Both possible as answer as can't work out the wordplay. Is it dour minus d or dowried minus ds ? Stuck.

Hi Antmark - I would have to go with 'owrie' - merely for the fact daughters (plural) is in clue - still not sure about it though - big help!!
I think dx has it - from "Do or die" (determined to succeed)
