I found the following information on a hymn history site:-Christianity was facing a dark future in England when Queen Anne forced through parliament
a Schism Act designed to severely limit religious freedom. Against this
backdrop, Isaac watts wrote the stately hymn ''O God our help in ages past.' It wasn't until 1738 John Wesley in his hymnal changed the first
line of the text from ''Our God'' to ''O God.''
I did read on another site that Queen Anne died on 1st August 1714 [aged
49] at Kensington Palace, London. She suffered from Erysipelas and
suppressed gout.
