MM Links Results December 2011 Week 5

A Happy New Year to all our addicts. I hope you can keep to your resolutions. (You did promise to play regularly every Saturday throughout 2012 didn't you?)

The game ended at 7pm and now I can declare the links chosen by 'King John' aka jobjockey, were as follows:

I would also like to thank 'King John' (aka Jobjockey) for sticking with it, despite difficulties, and providing us with our weekly fix for the last five weekends.


This was a bumper week pointswise, 53 in total, so you were really unlucky if none came your way.

Amazingly, the first two players found all the links between them so the bonus points were all gone before the clock reached 9:04.
BigMac found SHIPSHAPE and ROYAL YACHT while Roslyn 251254 found LIFE BOAT and JUNK SHOP. 4 points to each
Beejay1124, centrino and middlestump also matched two links while bonus points were still live - also for 4 points.
Evsajo and Strix managed the bonus on just 1 link for 2 points.

Owllady went one better by matching three links but the bonus had expired on 'Royal Yacht' so she collected a total of 5 points.

There was also another triple hitter later in the game when Patchett picked up all except 'junk shop' for 3 points.

Double-hitters for single points were grannydi, slaney, kawakiri and joto

So, for being both a triple-hitter and the highest scorer of the weekend, I declare

The points bonanza meant that there was some bunching up at the top. Kettledrum's 3-point lead wasn't enough to hold off the chasers. Although she added a further point, it was not enough as centrino joined her at the top.
I now have a dilemma because both of them have the same number of matches and the same number of bonus points over the month. They are truly equal so I have to declare a tie.

Thank you King John, and particular thanks to Gen2 for taking over earlier in the year when crofter had to stop and thus keeping us going - I certainly appreciate it and I'm sure everyone else does too. Best wishes to crofter if anyone is in touch with him. Looking forward to Kettledrum's (loud?) offerings next week.

King John is 'dead' long live Kettledrum, it's fun but sometimes a bit frustrating, I had a minor sstroke half way through, not as a result of the stress, I hope . Good luck and best wishes.

Valerie (Mrs crofter) passed away on 10th October, barely four months after being diagnosed with lung cancer. Since then, my life has a huge hole in it.
