Only word I can see is eskimo but no idea how it matches the clue . All help

Flower = River .River Esk.
Mo = Missouri. + 1 (No 1 earlier).
Therefore, ESK +1+MO
ESK - british river
I - one in front
MO - missouri abbreviated

Eskimo's are sometimes called American Natives as a possible solution
'doubtfully' because one is not supposed to use the E word these days
