What were 'Alistair Cooke' and 'Wilfred Pickles'?
Google brings them up as newsreaders but if that were the answer I think the question would be Who not What. Also why are names in ''s?
I wonder about varieties of something, flowers, roses, vegetables etc but have so far drawn a blank. Thanks for any help

WP was an actor long time ago Did AC write letter from america
I agree with kid.......What were......They were newsreaders/radio broadcasters.
Wilfred Pickles had a very popular radio show, I think it was called 'Have A Go'. His catch phrase was 'Give them the money Barney (or Mabel later on)'.

Alistair Cooke presented a programme called Letter From America which ran for many many years. He died a few years ago. I'm sure their details will be in Wikepedia.
