General question about newspaper crosswords - my entries usually end up looking a bit of a mess and I have to tidy them up with tippex.
Now someone has told me that altered or corrected entries probably wouldn't be valid - anyone know if this is true?
If so, I will have to be a bit tidier and use a pencil more often in future!

It certainly is NOT true of the Daily Telegraph - I have won three prizes with the Telegraph Saturday cryptic crossword and on one of these occasions did use tippex.
It is obviously better to err on the side of caution and try to keep the grid tidy - but unless you know for sure that the paper whose competition you are entering expressly forbids using tippex (perhaps by reading the rules and regulations of entry) then I personally think it would be a waste of time and effort for you to discard an entry just because it is not as tidy as it might have been.
Sorry if this confuses.
Well I am glad that it is not true of the Telegraph, as I do their general knowledge ones on Saturday and Monday.
I can't do cryptic ones - I don't understand the answers when they are explained to me, let alone the questions!!
I am going out to buy some of those pencils with rubbers on the ends!!
Thanks for the input.
