Thursday dawned and it was Ladies Dinner day, flowers to be picked and arranged for ‘top’ table, prizes to be taken up to the club and the tables sorted. Another problem, the tables weren’t set up for us, so the Secretary and I and some of the men were heaving heavy tables and chairs around, trying to work around men who had come off the course and wanted a quiet pint. Eventually all was done and I staggered home for a 45 minute rest before putting on my glad rags.
Suffice it to say the dinner went very well with many compliments for our new chef. The Military Whist was another matter – have you ever tried to organise 40 slightly inebriated ladies to go to the correct tables for each round? Well it caused quite a lot of laughter anyway!!
